KICKSTARTER GOAL MET!
On Monday, April 10, I launched the Kickstarter campaign to raise $10,000 to help make this project a reality. The support from community members and Grinnell College alumni was overwhelming and the goal was met by Thursday morning! People are excited to see this story shared and I can’t wait to make that happen.
More than half of the funds will go to illustrator Erica L. Butler, allowing her to focus fully on completing this project. The remaining funds will go towards printing the first copies of the book. Every Kickstarter supporter at $25 or above will get a copy, and additional funds will go towards donating copies to libraries in Iowa and Chicago. There are also project fees tied to things like this website, publicity, and professional fees (lawyers, editors, copyright and ISBN registration, etc.).
Anything raised above the Kickstarter goal helps make a better end product that we can be shared more widely.
